Pastor Lou serves as Christ Fredericksburg’s Associate Pastor. He began his call in January, 2019. Previously a police officer, he now serves as the volunteer police chaplain for the Fredericksburg City Police Department. Prior to his call at Christ Lutheran, he served the Church as a volunteer with the Ecumenical Community of Taizé, a hospice chaplain,Pastor of Messiah Mechanicsville, Vice Pastor at Christ Richmond, and as Dean of the Richmond Conference of Virginia Synod (ELCA) congregations.
Pastor Lou spent his formative years on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He earned a B.A. in English from the Virginia Military Institute. He was bestowed a Master of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary and concurrently a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University. His dual thesis explored how involvement in
faith communities helps build resiliency and mitigate delinquency issues in youth. In 2018, Pastor Lou was awarded a basic accreditation from the International Conference of Police Chaplains.
Pastor Lou is married to Kristine. They live in Spotsylvania County with their local rescues: their dog, Boomer, and cats, Gutterball and Moonshine. They enjoy traveling. He currently serves on the board of Lutheran Family Services of Virginia, Inc. He enjoys being part of the L’Arche Metro-Richmond’s Community Life Group, where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and work together as peers, create inclusive communities of faith and friendship. He has assisted on several committees and task forces of the Virginia Synod.
